Something NEW crossed my path a couple of weeks ago while I was visiting a my friend Paul's shop. He showed me a new sort of scraper / plane he had just made that lies flat on the project surface. It was one of those tools that as soon as you see it you think, WOW, what a great idea, I need to make one of those for myself. Paul told me he had seen it somewhere else before and was not his idea or design, but there's no reaon people cannot make their own versions of this idea, and so I did.
I started off with an old block plane I no longer use, but was once my go-to plane. The blade was still sharp, but would need a tiny bit of stropping to get it super sharp, but that would come later ....
Is Your Table Saw Dangerous Without This ?

For reasons unknown, "Riving Knives" have real fascination with woodworkers that "Splitters" never enjoyed, although they do nearly identical functions, but the new versions of splitters, easily have the upper hand the more recent Riving Knife adaption.
I se this happening all the time, someone acquires a new table saw and the first thing they do is remove the Splitter with the protective cowling and anti-kickback Pawls, then proceed to install a Riving Knife.

As usual, my "little job" turned into a multi day marathon, I always underestimate how long it takes to make things, maybe that's because I often make changes as I go, or maybe it's because I don't take into account how long glue and finishes take to apply, dry and harden ....

I first made this bench hold down clamp over 20 years ago, but it was temporary then, and not sure where it went (probably into another project) today I am making a new one, modular, so I can use different top components with it like wood, or steel angle-iron for bench clamping different kinds of flat wood to my bench.
The bench clamp is quite easy, but does have a few features that if you just look at it, you can easily miss.

Easily the longest build I have ever tackled, the Breaking Bad Coffee Table build. Inspired by a coffee table I saw during the TV series (5 seasons). I needed to re-watch all the episodes (62) AND take picture off the TV, in order to get the grasp of exactly how this table looked.
THEN ... from those pictures, try to reconstruct size, with dimensions and details of the build.
After the first few episodes I decided it would be best to build a model of what I had seen so far ...
