Leigh got its start in 1981 in Quesnel, a small logging and saw milling town in the northern interior of British Columbia, Canada's westernmost province. Frustrated with hand cutting dovetails and not finding any suitable dovetail jigs on the market, Ken Grisley, president of Leigh Industries, invented the variably spaced dovetail jig. With his wife Joan, Leigh Industries was formed to manufacture and market the Leigh TD514 Dovetail Jig. This jig made only through dovetails in boards up to ¾" thickness and 12" wide.
