National Press Release - 2007 Exotic Trees Turned into Furniture Print E-mail
Each year thousands of exotic trees end up in landfills, burn piles, and fireplaces because the people who appreciate these windfalls for their timber value had no way of being alerted to the need to rescue these species.

Wood Acquisition Rescue Program (WARP) connects these two groups together continent-wide. Those tasked with cutting and getting rid of problem or toppled trees, and those who can turn them into valuable pieces of furniture and other custom made products.... click read more below for full article

Colin Knecht, co-founder of E-State Media Group said "Every year thousands of board feet of excellent, usable wood ends up in landfills, fireplaces and wood chips that could otherwise be far better utilized. Hundreds of trees are lost in weather storms that do not realize their maximum value because there has not been an organized and consistent method of sharing this information with those groups that can better utilize and process this wood. WARP has been developed to reduce this waste, and at the same time create a stronger financial worth for the wood. The more people hear about it, the more everyone wants to participate in the program to the point we see every stick of wood will be used to get maximum value from it, and other healthy trees will not have to be cut down to fulfill this need."

Traditionally woodworkers are among the most dedicated environmentalists because their appreciation of the wood. To aid woodworkers and woodworking clubs in the process of obtaining what would otherwise be problem trees, the WARP program has been initiated as a no-cost feature for all woodworking clubs. Woodworking clubs who are registered in the program can now be alerted to downed trees in their area that are suitable to be turned into useable woodworking timber.

WARP consists of a series of a highly informative website which contains a reporting and registration component so that clubs can sign-up in the program and those who find themselves with salvageable trees can report them.

WARP is of benefit to the environment and the economy because valuable trees are recycled into commodity items rather than being disposed of. This saves the environment and at the same time enhances the economy. To learn more about WARP click HERE
