Editor's Note: Outside diameters of various water pipe and/ or gas pipe does vary. Not all pipe will fit this clamp. The 3/4" measurement of a pipe is the inside diameter of the pipe rather than the outside diameter of the pipe. Pipe clamps fit the outside diameter, therefore when a pipe manufactuer specifies 3/4" pipe it is a nominal term used to designate the inside diameter and does not determine any actual outside diameter. The outside diameter can and does vary by type and manufacturer of pipe. It will be important when selecting pipe for this clamp to note manufacturer's instructions on the packaging that the outside diameter of the pipe used should not exceed 1.062" O.D. You may well find tolerances very tight for this clamp with the pipes you have. Undersized 3/4" pipe works best. Outside diameters of water/gas pipe can vary and not all pipe will fit this clamp.
