Hey guys, I am somewhat of a rookie. I just bought a craftsman jointer at a garage sale and I am noticing that it is producing a bowing effect on the jointed sides and only in the middle. By the time I fisnished with a butcher block table it looked like I made a butterfly. Any ideas on why it is doing this. I adjusted out the snipe, so I doubt that is a factor.

Yup ... this is what happens when the cutter blades are below the outfeed fence.

Thanks for the great article. I have seen those setting jigs at woodcraft before. I will have to pick up a pair. I must have the blades just below the table. Its hard to notice the bowing with a short peice of wood. But the table I built was made with 8' 2x4's. And after 9 of them it really exagerated the whole bowing effect. If it wasnt near zero in my garage I would go out now and tinker with it.
