Thanks for the info. I was out of town and didn't get a chance to see your note til now.

I sent of a note to Don Wedll and asked for more information and prices. I usually buy my basswood from a lumber yard all the way in Raleigh. Last time I paid $60 for two pieces 4"X6"x6ft. It's a long way to go to pick it up and the quality wasn't as good as I would like. Maybe Don will be a good alternative source.

I think you will like the basswood, I do, good quality and the prices are good....problem is..shipping is expensive! no way to get around that! :cry:

Ron, sorry been busy, and it just dawned on me that you are probably getting southern basswood...and it is the least desirable for carving. Northern basswood is much better!
